Ceder

2015

CEDER is a forgotten spot on the map. A place where everything seems to fall silent, where even people stop, where the sun stiffens. Humans turn around, towards each other or turn into the wrong street, they dance with strangers, laugh when they can't. A child flies into the wrong mother's arms. No one yet knows what is to come. But the tense waiting, standing still, is exhausting. A few people kick it off, others go for coffee. People pause, refuel. Everyone looks at everyone else and sighs. There is nothing to lose. A new step is taken hesitantly. Together but in a different direction.

CEDER is a theatre performance played by 14 people with disabilities and two young actors. It is a collaboration between the Heide, Caritas and the Christoforus Community: three facilities located in the municipality of Merelbeke. Initiated by OC 't Groenendal and supported by Platform-K, Sara Sampelayo, Michiel Soete and Nele Vereecken created an intense, expressive performance about chance encounters and new twists. A mosaic of events set in the cinematic setting of a petrol station, with intriguing characters who encounter each other by chance and thereby unwittingly influence each other's lives.
